Vinney Green Secure Children's Home offers young people a safe, caring environment, where they will experience quality care, education, vocational and life skills training. Under the general direction of either the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher, you will support the overall educational and developmental needs of the young people in the Home.

We are open to applications on a part time basis.

What will you be doing?

Regularly, you will cover sessions arising from staff absence, which are often due to unforeseen circumstances.

It will be key for you to take a lead role in assessing, delivering and guidance in specified learning, developmental or welfare activities. This will include the delivery of relevant activities to classes, groups or individual pupils without a teacher being present.

You will be responsible for the learning and development programmes for pupils either as a group or individually, including work towards suitable qualifications.

You will plan and deliver lessons to classes or groups of pupils, considering the unstable / unpredictable learning environment.

Working with the Head/Deputy Head, you will provide feedback on young peoples' learning where required.

It will be key for you to understand and respond positively to the physical, emotional and/or behavioural needs of young people and to provide support those with additional needs through an Individual Education Plan/EHCP.

It is a requirement for you to have an advanced vocational qualification to NVQ 3 level or equivalent and a good standard of general education equivalent to NVQ 2 in Maths and English.

You must have considerable experience of working with young people in an educational context with evidence of relevant training in the appropriate age range or curriculum/learning area.

Ideally, you will have knowledge of relevant legislation for e.g. Child Protection and Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, First Aid training and Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI).
