The post holder is required to support and encourage the school's Christian ethos and its objectives, policies and procedures as detailed in the current Staff Handbook and Policy File. This also includes commitment to the life of the school and policies integral to the school.

Strategic Purpose:

To work with teachers and HLTAs as part of a professional team to support teaching and learning in and outside the classroom

To provide care and support for pupils across the age range to enable them to access the curriculum.

Work with individuals or small groups in the classroom under the supervision of teaching or HLTA staff

Work collaboratively with parents, teachers and other colleagues, including specialist advisory teachers

To develop an understanding of the pupils' specific needs to ensure that learning is as effective as possible

Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour

Prepare and clear up the learning environment and resources and contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment as well as displays

Invigilate exams and tests

Contribute effectively to the adaptation and delivery of support to meet individual needs

Adopt relevant strategies to support the work of teachers and HLTAs and increase achievement of all pupils including those with special educational needs and disabilities.

Attend to pupils' personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating, as well as help with social and health matters, reporting problems to a teacher as appropriate

Meet medical needs of students including the administration of medicines by mouth or other medical procedures provided appropriate training has been given.

To treat all information relating to a pupil as strictly confidential and to refer all enquiries to the SENCo.

To encourage pupil inclusion in all aspects of school life.

To display pupils' work as directed by teaching staff.

To support pupils' social skills and to encourage them to interact with others.

To assist in the supervision of pupils when off site.

To assist with general supervision when required.

To support staff with behaviour management.

To provide support for education/health care plans as appropriate..

To assist with record keeping as necessary.

To provide clerical support as necessary.

To attend meetings as appropriate.

To be familiar with whole school policies and implement them in line with their role.

To be aware of Health and Safety issues.

To attend relevant CPD as appropriate.
