About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Functional Skills Trainer to join our team. As a Functional Skills Trainer, you will be responsible for providing instruction and support to individuals seeking to develop and enhance their functional skills in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and information technology. Your role will involve delivering engaging training sessions (both accredited and non-accredited) assessing learners' progress, and providing personalised guidance to help them achieve their learning goals. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a passion for education, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of learners.

· Proven experience in delivering functional skills training or similar adult education programs.

· Training qualification such as PTTLS, Education & Training or CAVA (or willingness to work towards one within the role.)

· Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English

· Sound knowledge of functional skills requirements and standards.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds.

· Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate learners and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

· Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual learners' needs.

· Comfortable using instructional technology tools and resources to enhance language instruction and engage learners in digital learning environments.

Desirable criteria:

· Bachelor's degree in Education, PGCE, QTS or a related field.

· Experience creating engaging and interactive lesson plans that align with the learners' goals, incorporating a variety of teaching materials, resources, and activities.

· Previous work with diverse student populations

· Effectively manage varying sized groups of learners, being able to adapt to various learning styles.

· Full responsibility of delivering innovative training solutions, based on local priorities and contractual requirements.

· Feedback on training materials, identifying new and creative ways to engage learners

· A commitment to continuous professional growth and staying updated on teaching methodologies, resources, and technology.

· Continuously engage in professional development activities to stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in Functional Skills delivery.

· Apply new knowledge and techniques to improve teaching effectiveness.
