Full Job Description

This role will initially be for 10 hours per week, with the possibly of increase. Support is primarily required face to face, in Birmingham, however there may be some remote work. Immediate start date upon completion of references and DBS.,

  • To support individual with dual sensory loss in work environment (adult social care)

  • To provide transport by car to / from home visits, meetings and training across Birmingham (this includes office base in Birmingham city centre). May also require some travel to/from Sandwell.

  • To take detailed and accurate notes at all visits and meetings and provide these in electronic format as soon as possible afterwards

  • To assist with mobilising safely around buildings and on home visits by identifying door/room numbers, locating meeting rooms, verbally advising of any trip hazards or similar

  • To be vigilant to surroundings on home visits and discreetly notify of any potential safeguarding concerns, illegal activities or similar

  • To manage Access to Work paperwork

  • To assist with using multifunction devices such as printers

  • To assist with reading any handwritten notes where required

  • To assist with making phone calls, arranging appointments

  • To provide informal communication support as and when required, e.g. using clear speech to relay what another person has said.

  • Other related duties as required

    High standard of written and spoken English required. Ideally, you will have a background in administration and experience working with people who have sensory loss. Fluency in BSL or any other languages would be an advantage.


  • Must have professional manner, be able to demonstrate understanding of confidentiality, ability to multi-task and able to work in a busy office environment with competing deadlines.

    Close proximity to Birmingham and some flexibility in working days / hours is preferred in order to facilitate emergency and short notice visits.
