Full Job Description

An experienced Solution Architect is needed to work with operational and project teams to provide expert guidance on various aspects of infrastructure and application-based solutions.

You will be responsible for producing business case, solution options, solution overview and high-level designs, managing the technical relationship between 3rd party vendors and providing guidance and support for the delivery on a variety of initiatives.

You will apply functional knowledge and technical expertise to design systems to support our customer needs.

Main Responsibilities:

To be responsible for the governance and design of a complete solution from inception through delivery to handover to support.

To work with other Architects and Analysts to ensure what is proposed is both fit for purpose and meets the core business needs.

Understand the current or "as is" state of the IT architecture and the path required to move this to the future "to be" state recognising that this target will constantly be moving away.

To liaise with Infrastructure, Network and Cyber architects during the design and delivery phase.

To assist with the coordination of other technical SMEs to support the delivery and implementation phases of a programme or project.

To understand the challenges and complexities that exists within each stream or area of a programme and be able to integrate these activities.

Promote co-operation and facilitate coordination of all technical and non-technical streams within a programme to achieve the successful delivery of an integrated solution.

Comfortable at explaining and presenting both solutions and rationale for decision making to a technical and non-technical audience via documentation and presentations.

Provide consultancy to determine and understand the dependencies that exist between technical and non-technical components across streams.

Support other Architects / project / programme manager in understanding the risks, dependencies and issues that exist and the impact that these may have on the project / programme.

Understand what the project / programme will deliver from a business and benefits perspective and to advise on areas where this in not congruent with the proposed solution.

Leverage and influence change programmes to develop and enhance the relevant standards, policies and guidelines whilst driving adoption of standards.

Be an active team member of the Warwickshire Police architecture team and support colleagues through collaborative transparent peer reviews, audits, standards compliance checks and due diligence as required.

5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect.

Ability to familiarise yourself with the application environment and understand how they can be amended to meet new customer requirements is going to be an essential skill.

Possesses a broad knowledge of solution areas such as transformation and migration, security, business analysis, applications, integration and infrastructure, service management, including trends in the current marketplace and understands how these interact to arrive at a solution.

Significant experience of adopting and enforcing governance and assurance methods.

Experience of designing & implementing solutions as part of multi-stream change programmes.

Familiarity with business and technical concepts such as business process design, service management, applications, servers, networks and security (both technical and process).

Understands complex business problems and commercial frameworks and how to apply a logical, systematic approach to arrive at an appropriate solution.

Good Communicator able to reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express these to both a non-technical and technical audience.

Desirable:

Strong experience of designing, implementing and migrating applications into Microsoft Azure.

Experience:

Ideally, 5+ years of experience of the Microsoft Azure platform / ecosystem.

Experience of designing & implementing solutions as part of multi-stream change programmes.

Significant experience of adopting and enforcing governance and assurance methods.

Experience working in an environment involved in growth of our business, and the working on the transformation of the IT estate into target architecture
