Full Job Description

The Senior Revenue Management Analyst is responsible for shaping and implementing the Revenue Management strategy, in addition to being the key stakeholder to champion for development and improvements to Revenue Management tools, including the reservations and Revenue Management systems. The role holder will undertake all reporting and project work relevant to Revenue Management, including presenting results and opportunities to senior members of the business. They will work closely with the Revenue Management Analyst, Pricing Manager, System suppliers, Marketing and Train Planning teams.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Regularly work through established Revenue Management processes and decisions while also taking responsibility for a range of related systems, projects and stakeholder relationships.

  • Lead the SWR Revenue Management team of two colleagues, ensuring appropriate urgency and prioritisation of wide reach of tasks and projects related to Revenue Management strategy, reporting, systems and stakeholder engagement.

  • Shape and implement SWR's Revenue Management strategy on all designated routes where Advance Purchase tickets are available, in order to maximise total farebox revenue while considering capacity and customer needs, working effectively with the Revenue Management Analyst;

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with system suppliers and Rail Delivery Group to ensure appropriate development, feedback, training and delivery of Revenue Management, reservation and reporting systems is achieved for SWR's business needs;

  • Continually develop and deliver dedicated reporting for SWR's Revenue Management approach and results, including four-weekly reports to Senior Leadership. The required level of detail of the reporting should be tailored to the audience but should be developed quickly when appropriate to assess commercial performance of the wider Revenue Management strategy, along with any tactical interventions/tests in place;

  • Identify opportunities to adapt strategies further or quickly put in place mitigation plans to address any competitor, threats, reputational or compliance impacts or shortfalls created by other causes in coordination with the Pricing Manager or other stakeholders where appropriate;

  • Regularly liaise with Marketing colleagues to ensure that all product availability for advertising and promotional purposes meets all necessary compliance requirements (e.g. ASA). Collaborate regularly to ensure opportunities are identified and proposed to deliver improved overall revenue performance through marketing activity where appropriate;

  • Ensure continual compliance and reporting on Revenue Managed ticket availability in relation to requirements agreed with the Competition and Markets Authority;

  • Work with the Senior Commercial Development Manager and Pricing Manager each Fares Setting Round to develop and propose changes to the Advance Purchase fares range;

  • Working with the Revenue Management Analyst, build and maintain a strong relationship with the Train Planning Unit to ensure up to date timetable and rolling stock information is maintained, enabling services and Advance Purchase quotas to be suited to the Long Term and Short Term train plan;

  • Ensure successful delivery of any business plan commitments related to Revenue Management;

  • As required engage in any other wider First Rail, MTR, RDG, GBRTT, DfT and other industry initiatives and projects to enhance our overall Revenue Management capability, systems and processes;

  • Engage with front line staff at locations across the SWR network, to build a clearer understanding of challenges, issues and ideas in relation to Revenue Management and ticketing;

  • To assist with the implementation and management of any other aspects of Revenue Management as and when required.

    Numerate, with good analytical, strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Expert user of Excel.

  • Previous Yield or Revenue Management experience in any industry essential.

  • Collaborative but challenging, influencer and proactive.

  • Drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Highly adaptable to deliver effectively across a range of competing tasks, enjoys delivering beyond traditional Revenue Management Analyst responsibilities.

  • Confidence to present to a wide range of stakeholders essential.

  • Knowledge of SWR network, products, retailing and passenger markets desirable.

  • Competent user of MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.

  • Good understanding of impact of price on levels of demand across various markets.

  • Understanding of UK Rail Industry ticketing structure beneficial.

  • SQL knowledge/experience beneficial.

  • Welcomes changes to strategy, processes or policies where beneficial to business needs.

  • Ability to communicate and clearly explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences.

  • Willingness to travel across the SWR network to engage and gather insights from front line staff.

    Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days
