Full Job Description

· To ensure safe operation across people, plant and process at all times.

· To ensure that the shift delivers the daily and weekly production plan in line with operating and technical procedures of the business to maintain product quality

· Collaborate with management to ensure staffing levels are appropriate and the team have the skills and training to meet the needs of the business

· To lead, manage, coach and drive the production team to achieve daily, weekly production KPIs

· Support management in developing the operating plan for the business

· To cover for the Production Manager if required

Key responsibilities

· Ensure adherence to all business Health and Safety policies. Liaising with the H&S Team, to monitor and develop procedures to ensure that the Company has the appropriate focus in place to meet it's statutory Health and Safety responsibilities

· To maintain excellent GMP standards at all times, delivering quality standards required by customers and external audits with alignment to BRC requirements.

· Deliver the daily production plan and ensure a shift report is completed and emailed out to the management team

· To manage, report and drive set KPIs including safety, quality, throughput/volume, plan attainment, yield, waste, labour effectiveness and downtime. Report and action reasons for under achieving

· Proactive day to day problem solving to ensure daily plan is met - this includes bottleneck management and team management to ensure throughputs maintained at target levels

· Proactively suggest process improvements that can drive throughputs and efficiency

· Work collaboratively with the planning and technical teams to ensure production meets daily order fulfilment on time and in full whilst maintaining technical compliance

· To manage and control the data collection systems and monitoring processes, ensuring that all documentation and communication is processed and delivered to the cross functional departments, as required on a timely and regular basis.

· To motivate, manage, train/coach and develop team workers and also support the recruitment and retention of new starters

· To carry out the HR function of the shift, in dealing with development and staff management, which will involve investigations and disciplinaries.

· Ensure staffing levels are optimised and any holiday /sick cover is in place, and skills gaps are addressed.

· Do a daily maintenance walk round of all machines in the factory and flag up any issues and pass to Engineering Team via the company software system.

· Ensure full and detailed communication both across shift and to all relevant parties across the supply chain as required.

· Support NPD and the installation and operations of new equipment, process, etc as required in line with the business growth agenda

· Report promptly all instances of long term health problems (deafness, stress, RSI, WRULD etc) which may have been caused by your work.

Environment

· Reduce, reuse - make sure waste streams are binned and separated

· Look after our "Tofu" - keep floor and process waste to a minimum

· Water is a scarce resource - use sparingly

· Try to reduce the use of packaging material and stop waste wherever possible

· Turn off equipment and lights etc' when they are not being used

· Look after your working environment - control litter, protect equipment and clean as you go
