Full Job Description

We are a Hindu Charity operating in London and are looking to hire experienced Religious Workers musicians to perform a traditional style of music that requires two performers.

Temple Musician - Thavil: One is Thavil (traditional drum) and the other is Nadhaswaram (traditional trumpet - Indian Pipe) music are played during the pooja, homam, abhishekam to the deities to make the devotees more involved in the prayers. It is a divine nature of the music as called "Mangala Isai" and it is very traditional to have in the Hindu temple.

Candidates should affirm their faith as a Hindu as the job role involves assisting in worshipping and performing Poojas for the Hindu Gods. The Temple must know how to play in the temple during various types of poojas and all these include various devotional songs with various ragas and thalam. They should be a qualified person to perform this mangala isai. Candidates should be a talented musician and are expected to consider this role as a service to God.

At least three years' training and experience in a similar role is essential. Applicant must be Tamil speaking and practicing Hinduism.
