Full Job Description

  • Designing, owning, and implementing the test strategy with feedback loops, from both an automated and manual exploratory perspective. Both are equally important in our opinion and should coexist!

  • Understanding the varied world of Enterprise B2B message exchange and the challenges that it poses to testing - how do we test an implementation toolkit with often thousands of execution paths?

  • Working to ensure there is continuity in the testing strategy amongst all the SDET's - running best practice workshops with wider R&D teams

  • Understand the business vision from a product perspective to ensure that the quality of our software matches our ambitions, working in line with Senior Product Managers and squads during development phase

  • Develop key relationships across functional, regional, and global stakeholders (particularly SDETSRE) the to develop tools, frameworks and processes that enable us to transition smoothly from "test" to "release" to "auto-deploy" in the DevOps landscape with minimum latency and maximum quality.

  • Define and measure key KPI's that allow us to continually make gains within the development process in terms of software quality/testing time of tickets/stories and in reducing our overall development cycle time (DCT), Attend the Sidetrade new hire bootcamp, where you will learn about our company mission, vision, and understand what makes Sidetraders unique.

  • Get a good understanding of the market and competitive environment.

  • Be trained on our product, "Platform 6"and discover how it is used by shadowing some of our internal users

  • Build your internal network across all departments.

  • Get to work!!!


    • Within 3 months, you will:
  • Have tested your first feature(s) and see them in production.

  • Understand our latest automated tests that use Playwright, Cypress knowledge is a nice to have too.

  • Have met with all our SDETs and have an understanding/appreciation for their opinions and what they do currently.

  • Have an idea of the key bottlenecks in our testing process.

  • Be able to make some recommendations for the future of our testing landscape in Sidetrade.

  • Actively participate to the QA guild's activities with other SDETs, where you will all discuss best practices and latest market trends that we could do.

    Min 5 years' experience of software testing, with knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Java/Groovy or similar languages and automation frameworks in a BDD environment, shell scripting knowledge is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of modern, industry testing patterns/practices including stress/performance and security testing, with at least coverage of the "testing pyramid" or more recently the "automation testing wheel" to drive our automated testing strategy. Beneficial if this has been with event driven applications.

  • A good understanding of continuous integration (CI) technologies (Jenkins), even more of a benefit if this is in a containerised context.

  • Analytical and pragmatic mindset to find issues that others wouldn't normally find, exploratory testing is an art.

  • Passion for technology - enough to recognise the current market trends in test automation, we want to automate the correct stuff, well.

  • Be familiar with Agile frameworks.

  • Have a passion and drive for high quality software.
