Full Job Description

You will be part of the DBT Security Team and be responsible for ensuring that the department complies with the required Government Security Standards. You will support the cross-government Places for Growth initiative which enables us to connect with and reflect the communities we serve and contribute to the government’s priority levelling up initiative across the UK.
You will lead on physical security, security education and awareness, information security and incident management in the hubs. You will manage the transition, ensuring that there are appropriate security polices and processes within the new Hubs. You will identify key security risks and provide appropriate advice and mitigations. You will also be a security key holder for major programmes and projects and be required to review business cases and provide advice/guidance on security for new projects.
As part of the Security Senior Management Team in DBT Security you will help DBT act as an intelligent customer to access services from the Government Property Agency and other government partners. You will collaborate and manage relationships with other government departments and agencies also co-locating in the regional offices., + Leading on security for your area of responsibility and supporting governments places for growth agenda
+ Implementing good security culture and behaviour and transforming change in DBT’s hubs
+ Working with key stakeholders across government to protect the department and its people from security threats
+ Continually review delivery processes to ensure they are meeting business needs
+ Delivering security improvements to ensure compliance with government functional standards
+ Providing security advice and guidance to DBT projects and staff at all levels
+ Supporting the Senior Security Adviser and the Security Team as required, We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

Location and working arrangements
This role is available in seven UK locations and can only be worked from within the UK, not overseas. Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DBT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.

Further Information:
Existing Civil Servants and applicants from accredited NDPBs are eligible to apply, but will only be considered on loan basis (Civil Servants) or secondment (accredited NDPBs). Prior agreement to be released on a loan basis must be obtained before commencing the application process. Experience in and knowledge of Security practice and processes
+ Understanding of the security risks and issues facing an international-facing government department
+ The ability to communicate effectively at all levels including briefing senior staff and at board level.
+ The ability to prioritise between multiple work streams to ensure that deadlines are met.
+ Being a self-starter, working as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
+ The successful candidate must either hold Security Clearance (SC) or be successful in attaining SC.

Desirable criteria
+ A certain level of technical security understanding would be useful.
+ Experience of working within or with government security.
+ Experienced in delivering/feeding into security projects.
+ Excellent ambassador for the Government Security Function
