Full Job Description

We are a small and friendly team providing excellent childcare provision within Evenwood, Bishop Auckland. We are in search of a cleaner/housekeeper to join us. Hours can be negotiated up to 16 hours per week within nursery opening hours (i.e. potential starting 7:15 a.m. shift or 15:00 p.m. shift) and / or term-time only.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeper / Cleaner to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the nursery. Your attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service will contribute to creating a clean, welcoming and safe environment for our children, staff, parents and visitors.

Main Responsibilities:
· To provide and be responsible for maintaining the highest level of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery premises.
· Prepare and serve light afternoon meal (tea) for the children (p.m. shift)
· To implement and promote all nursery policies and staff rules.
· To ensure the safety of all nursery users including children, staff, parents and visitors.

Main Duties:
1. Daily cleaning of all nursery rooms to include vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, wiping down of surfaces, furniture, doors, paintwork etc.
2. Prepare and serve a light afternoon meal for the children (tea)
3. Daily cleaning of other nursery areas including corridors, entrance way, managers office, staff room, kitchen and laundry.
4. Empty and wash out bins in all rooms.
5. Daily thorough cleaning of child and staff toilet areas
6. Maintain sufficient supplies of cleaning materials and re-order via the Manager.
7. To carry out physical duties required during housekeeping including the moving of nursery furniture and equipment.
8. To ensure all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to including working with hazardous substances and exposure to noise and/or vibration.
9. Occasional cleaning of carpets.
10. Undertake any other duties as may be required at the request of the Nursery Manager or Senior Staff, for example laundry duties.
11. To work as part of a team and contribute positively to the staff team.
12. To ensure that all information pertaining to the nursery, its operation, children, staff and parents remains confidential

Previous experience in cleaning or related field is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional personality.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects if required
