Full Job Description

No two days will be the same with Seashell, you'll help to promote the intellectual, physical and personal development of students in college.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the planning, design, and delivery of programs tailored to the


  • needs of students with Autism, ensuring alignment with individual

    learning needs and goals.
  • Providing leadership and support to teaching and support staff within


  • the Autism department, fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning

    environment.
  • Developing and implementing differentiated curriculum content and


  • teaching materials that promote engagement and progression for

    students with Autism.
  • Conducting regular assessments and progress reviews to monitor


  • student development and adapt teaching strategies as needed.
  • Collaborating with the Multidisciplinary Team to create Individual


  • Learning Plans (ILPs) and ensure alignment with Individual Learner

    Schedules (ILS) for students with Autism.
  • Managing self-assessment and quality assurance processes to ensure


  • compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Providing oversight and management of course records and associated


  • systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of student data.
  • Conducting regular lesson observations and providing constructive


  • feedback to staff, identifying areas for improvement and implementing

    strategies for development.
  • Coaching and mentoring new members of staff to enhance their


  • understanding and delivery of Autism education, promoting continuous

    learning and development.
  • Developing and delivering regular updates and training sessions for

    To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience with students who have


  • Autism and other learning difficulties.
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent Post-16 tutor qualification.


  • Leadership experience, including managing a team of teaching and


  • support staff within an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Autism education, including knowledge of


  • sensory impairments, communication difficulties, and differentiated

    curriculum development.
  • Proven ability to implement and evaluate teaching strategies that


  • support the diverse needs of students with Autism.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with


  • the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated


  • on best practices in Autism education.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving, with a strong


  • commitment to the welfare and development of students with complex

    disabilities.

    We are seeking a dedicated Lead Further Education Autism Teacher to join our team at Seashell Trust. Reporting to the Deputy Head of College, this role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and develop good practice in Autism education. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing self-assessment processes, overseeing course records, and leading curriculum development initiatives tailored to the needs of students with Autism.
