Head of Systems Development

Taylor Rose utilises a suite of leading legal practice management software solutions which have been configured and customised to suit its needs. The Head of Systems Development will be responsible for software development in the context of these systems and other related client and internal systems, their customisation and configuration. As well as being a member of the IT leadership team, they will lead a team which is responsible for end-to-end software development delivery and support in the area of practice management and related systems. Responsibilities encompass the full software development lifecycle from requirements to implementation and ongoing support and maintenance.

This role involves but is not limited to:

• ·Software development in the context of customisation and configuration of legal practice management systems including case management, document management and financial systems.


• End to end software delivery spanning requirements analysis, development, testing, release and support, which meet project specifications.


• Maintain and update existing systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance.


• Establish, review and constantly improve internal development processes and methodologies adopting agile where appropriate.


• Ensure coding standards are met by the team to ensure stability, performance, readability and maintainability.


• Ensure appropriate governance, structure and integrity of data, implementing best practice.


• Identify opportunities for gaining advantage through intelligent use and application of data.


• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.


• Lead and deliver software projects and programmes of various sizes.


• Collaborate with, support and challenge cross-functional teams to formulate realistic, beneficial and achievable requirements in order to facilitate optimal outcomes.


• Produce meaningful progress reporting and manage stakeholder expectations.


• Document system processes and configurations for future reference and training purposes.
  
  Expertise implementing and managing case management, document management and financial systems in a legal practice. Experience with Mattersphere and 3E would be beneficial.


• Solid understanding of database management systems, SQL, report writing and data modelling.


• Experience leading programmes to migrate systems from traditional on-premise to private and public cloud solutions.


• Experience implementing agile development methodologies.


• Management of and interaction with third parties for software delivery.


• Team leadership, coaching and development of software developers and analysts.


• Expert in software delivery who comes across as credible and with good stakeholder management skills.


• Excellent understanding of legal business processes and the application of technology to them
