Full Job Description

The Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU) is part of a prestigious national network managing the richest intelligence available to law enforcement. The SIU is seeking a capable and forward-thinking analyst (or assistant analyst wanting to upskill) who has an eye for detail, ideally with a track record of working with partners, supporting change, and delivering operational outcomes. You will work alongside a team of skilled analysts and intelligence development officers, utilising a wide range of intelligence to proactively target Organised Crime within the Eastern Region.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will be at the forefront of new technologies and be encouraged to participate in trials and projects to directly influence future technologies across Law Enforcement and further your career development.,

  • Collect, collate, evaluate, and analyse information from a wide variety of internal and external sources pertaining to national security and those involved in organised crime.

  • Produce high quality products in support of operational requirements, specifying risk.

  • Making recommendations to operational teams and assist in the conviction of offenders.

  • Use structured analytic techniques - self-assessment / review / update in line with scrutiny.

  • Take an active role in peer review of products.

  • Produce products to an evidential standard, whilst providing advice to lead investigators throughout the process.

  • Where required attend case conferences with CPS and present evidence at court.

  • The successful candidate will also be required to support Crimes in Actions (CIAs), typically kidnaps, led by the major crime units across the seven regional forces., The Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs) form a critical part of the National Policing Network, they have a range of specialist policing capabilities & operate across police force boundaries to disrupt organised crime. As such the ROCU are positioned to support their constituent forces & other law enforcement partners as well as leading on operations at the appropriate threshold. The ROCUs also act as an important point of connection between police forces and the NCA., Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) before taking up the post. This will involve vetting checks on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial enquiries.

    Ability to work with Windows based software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in working with customised databases and computer packages

  • Well-developed numeric, analytical and research techniques

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Flexible approach to work and ability to self-motivate

    Police Barred and Advisory Lists

    Individuals placed on the Police Barred and Advisory lists will not be considered for employment by the police for a minimum of 5 years from the date of listing in the case of gross misconduct, or 3 years from the date of listing in the case of poor performance.
