Full Job Description

Duties to include:

  • To help provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times with support from the pre-school manager and staff.

  • To develop an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to enable children to make individual progress.

  • To understand and work to preschool policies and procedures, including how to deal with safeguarding issues appropriately and learn how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies

  • To plan and eventually lead activities which ensure each child is reaching their full potential.

  • To work towards becoming a key person.

  • To learn how to ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book, risk assessments etc

  • To liaise with pre-school staff to learn how to ensure parents/carers are informed about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement.

  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objective


  • The training you will be getting

  • You will be working towards a Level 3 Standard Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

  • Mandatory Qualifications (e.g. First Aid): Paediatric First Aid

  • You will receive on and off the job training and support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor

  • You will be required to attend St Austell College one day a week basis as part of the apprenticeship training

  • Functional Skills in English and maths if required

    Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Physical fitness, Reliable, Calm under pressure, Enjoy working outdoors, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent maths (Grade 4/C) Essential

    At Nanstallon Pre-School we provide our children with a broad and balanced curriculum centred around the children's interests. Our warm and friendly staff ensure children are happy and settled at all time and are passionate about ensuring children enjoy the best possible experiences. Our staff feel valued and well supported in their work with a strong emphasis on continued professional development. We are situated in a separate building within the grounds of Nanstallon County Primary School near Bodmin. Website currently under construction.
