VAT To act as the VAT lead for the Trust, SWFTCS Ltd and Innovate Healthcare Services Ltd Ensuring timely submission of monthly/quarterly VAT returns for the Trust, SWFTCS Ltd and Innovate Healthcare Service Ltd Application of VAT as it relates to the NHS under the Contracted-Out Services rules for the Trust. Undertake VAT Partial exemption calculations Undertake the general ledger reconciliation of VAT control codes to VAT return in a timely manner Minimising the amount claimed by external VAT advisors on under and over recoveries in relation to invoice transactions. The post holder must ensure procedures are in place to recover and record VAT accurately and to maintain records in accordance with Customs and Excise regulations. Salary overpayments and advances Timely completion of the monthly Salary overpayments and advances reconciliations. Responsible for identifying and following up on the non-recovery/ any difference with payroll, HR/Workforce.Lease Cars Responsible for ensuring the
Trust correctly accounts for lease car transactions through the completion of the monthend reporting for lease cars, including the monthly lease car control account reconciliations. Together with the Senior Finance Assistant to work closely with the lease car provider to monitor lease car expenditure and maximise recovery from staff. Ensuring we identify any issues/sensitivities early minimising the risk of non-recovery for the Trust. Provide financial advice to employees around lease cars. These queries are often challenging, complex, and contentious and include sensitive financial information about staff members. Work to resolve any pay queries or discrepancies identified. Cash Flow To support the Senior Finance Manager in managing the Trusts cash and working capital position by maintaining a rolling daily cashflow forecast for the year ahead. Other Responsibilities Undertake a number of other agreed control account reconciliations on a timely basis, resolving and clearing reconciling
items. To deputise for the Finance Manager (Financial Reporting and Strategy) as required. To provide training to budget holders and internal finance staff on VAT issues. To ensure that own professional skills and knowledge are regularly updated through mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Responsible for the design (where applicable) and implementation of new financial processes and procedures as required with the support of the Finance Manager-Financial Reporting and Strategy. Requires and applies knowledge and experience of finance systems used and how they integrate e.g. purchase ledger, sales ledger, purchase ordering and general ledger. Provides guidance to non-financial staff on the interpretation of complex financial information, assumptions and trend analysis. Works independently on a daily basis to ensure that priorities and deadlines are met as set by the Finance Manager or Senior Finance Manager (Financial Reporting & Strategy) Any other duties as
