Full Job Description

Job Description: As a Senior Support Worker at Norman Galloway Homes, you will play a pivotal role in supporting care leavers to develop essential life skills and access employment, education, and training opportunities. Working closely with our dedicated team, you will provide practical and emotional support to help care leavers thrive in their transition to independence. Additionally, you will assume responsibilities akin to those of a Support Worker Deputy Manager. Your tasks will include:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to help care leavers develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, and cleaning.

  • Supporting care leavers in identifying employment, education, and training needs and helping them access relevant opportunities.

  • Delivering training and workshops on independent living skills and job readiness, providing ongoing coaching and support to care leavers participating in the jobs programme.

  • Working closely with the Administration Team to ensure care leavers receive appropriate support.

  • Advocating for care leavers to ensure their needs are met and assisting them in navigating complex systems such as benefits and housing.

  • Supervising and supporting a team of support workers, including scheduling, training, and performance management.

  • Conducting regular assessments and reviews of service users' needs and developing individualised support plans in collaboration with management.

  • Conducting shift audits from all support workers, giving the appropriate feedback.

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of new initiatives and best practices to continuously improve service provision.

    Minimum 3 year of experience working with care leavers or a related group in the United Kingdom.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding regulations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK's care leaver system (under 18's).

  • Good understanding of safeguarding principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.

  • Ability to deliver training and workshops on independent living skills.

  • Excellent record-keeping and monitoring skills.

  • A full UK driving license is essential., Children in Care or Care Leavers: 3 years (required)

  • Senior or managment expeience in relevant setting: 2 years (required)

  • UK Driving Licence (preferred)
