Full Job Description

Digital and social media is seen as a strategic, yet accessible, activity that allows our clients to reach key stakeholders in the healthcare landscape with the news and education that they need in a rapidly changing environment. The value that is associated to this type of media as communication and marketing channels means that the Activation team is brought in on most briefs. Involvement to this level has led to incredible growth in this team and this team intends to keep growing in line with the overall agency.
We're seeking a digital and social media leader to continue to drive the growth of this team in a scalable fashion, future proofing the capability to adopt new technologies, capabilities, and regulations that will impact the team's work down the road. The individual suited for this role will be an expert in digital and social but can also draw on experience from having worked on broader integrated campaigns to explain the role of digital and social for the overall business
What you'll do:

  • In this role, you'll have the opportunity to think ahead and anticipate outcomes, helping us remain proactive rather than reactive. While surprises can occur, your ability to see opportunities where others see limitations will be crucial. You recognise the value of diverse perspectives and understand that building a strong team means bringing together people who complement each other's skills and viewpoints. This approach will not only enrich our strategies but also strengthen our team dynamics as we grow.

  • As an agency thought leader, you must be able to command a room. You will lead brainstorms and present new digital and social media programmes to clients. Therefore, presenting to clients shouldn't feel any different than having an internal call with a colleague; you are able to stick to your agenda, have quick brainstorms, and effectively debate feedback on your plan.

  • You're not an island. The team in London is autonomous and is doing impressive work, but the teams' ideas come out of brainstorms that are fed with learnings from the other geographies and teams across the business. Therefore, nurturing your relationship with the US Activation team and other capabilities is essential.

  • The Activation team itself is the most important tool at your disposal. They are overachievers with varying ways of thinking. To guide the most creative outputs, you need to nature everyone's growth and development. The team often becomes very busy because of their success. In these moments, they will rely on you to inspire them and keep them on track. Their expertise is in digital and not project management. Therefore, you will need to find solutions that will ensure effective resourcing, profitable projects, and healthy budgets as the team leader.

  • You appreciate the importance of a unified marketing approach and are adept at crafting campaigns that deliver a consistent message across all platforms. To you, 'Omnichannel' is more than just a catchphrase; it's a guiding principle in your planning process. You also excel at adapting strategies to meet unique business challenges and offering bespoke advice to ensure the highest impact, keeping in mind the specific constraints and needs of the business.

  • In a field as dynamic as ours, each day brings something new, and you thrive on that. You're passionate about continuous learning and innovation, which means you are always sharing the latest trends and techniques in marketing and communications. Your ability to adapt and highlight new insights will be important in supporting our internal teams and driving our communications strategies forward.

  • You know that paid promotion is essential, and you thrive with analytics and insights. Where you stand out is that you see opportunities for new paid promotions and performance measurement that others couldn't see. It isn't about leaving a small bit of budget - to be able to say you ran some paid promotion - but rather it is about making sure that the campaign is successful because you made it that way.

You are adaptable, resilient, and OK with adjusting your scope, responsibilities, and focus as we grow. When things change, so do we. We're always evolving.

  • You are proactive, driven, and resourceful with strong prioritization skills and a desire to dive into the data.

  • You are highly organized self-starter, able to work independently and under tight deadlines.

  • What you should have:
    Strategy and Execution Skills:
  • Ability to work with and lead a cross-functional team to deliver outstanding digital and social strategies.

  • Experience in strategy development and execution of global programmes, as well as local implementation.

  • Storytelling and understanding the art of the pitch presentation for new business.

  • Skilful with using research and working with our insights team to create insight-driven digital and social media engagement strategies into media plans.

  • Industry-specific and Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Healthcare/Pharma experience.

  • Working knowledge of industry regulations in the UK, Europe, and globally when it comes to what can and cannot be done on social media and other digital platforms.

  • Well-versed in the language of the General Data Protection Regulations and how it impacts the team's day-to-day work for each client.

  • Client and Team Management:
  • Strong manager with experience managing multiple direct reports.

  • Seasoned monthly resource manager and planner to forecast for the business.

  • Ability to counsel senior clients and guide them to sound business decisions.

  • Provide counsel on client issues to junior staff when needed and engage leadership appropriately.

  • Ability to inspire the account team to upsell social work across accounts.

  • Has confidence to manage upward when required; able to communicate with managers when deadlines will not be met or when issues are foreseeable.

  • Technical, Analytical and Measurement Capabilities:
  • Strong understanding of tracking and performance measurement from paid social media activities through to owned digital platforms.

  • Collaborate with the paid and performance team to identify key client KPIs and develop measurement and learning plans that communicate programme performance and reveal opportunities to increase success.

  • Knowledge of running paid campaigns using platforms to execute campaigns with dynamic creative and custom user experiences.

  • Expertise and strong understanding of most self-serve ads manager platforms.

  • Leadership and Communication Skills:
  • High energy, able to effectively operate in a fast-paced, growing, and evolving environment.

  • A positive thinker who can adapt quickly, innovate and be a reliable resource under pressure.

  • Strong workshop skills. On top of flawless presentation capabilities.

  • Highly organised with a mindfulness of deadlines, the ability to manage multiple tasks based on priorities, a strong attention to detail and experience bringing structure to problems.

  • Excellent business communication ability, including informal/formal presentation and writing skills; this includes confident public speaking both internally and externally with clients, vendors, and affiliates.
