Full Job Description

To start in September 2024, Oundle School's Sport and PE Department is seeking to appoint a number of passionate and driven Residential Assistant Sports Coaches to support with the delivery of the weekly sport and PE Programme on a 12-month, fixed-term basis. This role is open to both graduate or undergraduate placement applicants alike., Any queries relating to post can be directed to Ed Harrison, Sports Development Co-ordinator, eharrison@oundleschool.org.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.

We are looking for people who are passionate about sport, motivated and self-driven, and wish to develop and engage with enthusiastic and motivated pupils. You will have either achieved a Higher Education qualification, or be working towards a degree, and ideally have played and coached sport to a high standard. We are ideally looking for candidates with a specialism in one of Hockey, Rugby, Cricket or Netball. Candidates will also be expected to contribute in coaching Oundle's other leading sports across each of the three academic terms.

Oundle School is one of the country's leading co-educational boarding and day schools, with 860 boarding and 260-day pupils enjoying a strong reputation for academic excellence as the core of an all-round education and supported by outstanding pastoral care. Sport is very much part and parcel of daily life at Oundle, where we believe that every pupil leaves School with a positive experience, developing a lifelong interest and love of sport. Our ambition is to nurture a sporting culture where all strive industriously and some excel; where individuals can pursue their sport interests, and where the most talented are challenged to reach their potential.

Duties include helping to deliver first class team and specialist 1-1 coaching within the Sports Department, whilst assisting with pastoral duties and contributing to the thriving co-curricular life of the School. The position is open to talented sportspersons with a desire for a career in coaching or teaching, regardless of their degree subject. There is a generous package of CPD opportunities and funding available, alongside strong links with partnering professional clubs and organisations.

We feel that this exciting opportunity would suit a recent graduate considering a career in sports coaching or sports development, or for an undergraduate seeking a suitable 30 week work placement. There will be opportunities to develop experience of teaching should this be of interest to applicants, in addition to the School providing the successful candidate with free on-site accommodation.
