Full Job Description

We are looking for OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANTS fixed term for 18 months. Secondment can be considered for internal applicants with your managers agreement.

Occupational Therapy is a vital function of Adult Social Care, ensuring that individuals can maintain their independence and live life to the fullest in their own homes. We have established a close working relationship with multi-disciplinary teams across adult social care, and health colleagues within the NHS. As such we are not only able to collectively offer exceptional care and support to the people of Hull but also can offer excellent training, support and development in your career.

There are 4 fixed term posts available across East and West Locality Teams in Adult Social Care. The hours are Monday- Friday 8.30am-5pm. There will be an expectation of 12-20 community visits being completed a week, and a minimum of one day a week working in the office base. There may be a requirement for more officed based working or to support other teams to meet business needs.

The Core elements of the role are:

  • To work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapists to enable people to improve their health, wellbeing, and independence. Undertaking joint assessments and reviews with other professionals such as Surveyors, Social Work and Telecare staff where required.

  • To assess for equipment, adaptations and alternative housing to maintain a person's independence and ability to remain in their own home.

  • To undertake Duty and other office/telephone based tasks.

  • To support Occupational Therapists with Moving and Handling of Adults.

  • Transportation of equipment which may be heavy or bulky across the city.

  • To use a number of different computer systems and programs to maintain accurate records, and ordering of equipment, including Liquid Logic, IRIS4, Interweave portal and Granacus.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social care or equivalent experience

  • Previous experience of occupational therapy or a related field through work, volunteering or lived experience would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act, Care Act and Safeguarding

  • Good standard of computer skills
