Full Job Description

First Steps is a small friendly nursery in a village location on the edge of open countryside and close to Hollingworth Lake country park. The staff and children regularly enjoy days out exploring the wonderful nature, animals, lake experiences and country walks.

The nursery has a very large forest school garden where children and staff enjoy den making, barbecues, picnics and lunch cooked on our fire pit. The nursery also has the benefit of a well-resourced covered canopy play area.

The staff at First Steps are welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic team who offer great support to each other, management, children and families.

You will be appreciated and welcomed for your individual and unique skills and personality.

You will be fully supported and encouraged to undertake training that will help you in your career progression.

You will work alongside families/carers who are friendly, happy and welcome being involved in all aspects of nursery life.

Your Role will include:-

  • You will have the skills to be a positive leader to a small established team of dedicated friendly supportive staff

  • You will be pro-active in motivating and supporting the team by delivering positive practices to ensure effective development and management.

    Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification that is fully recognised

  • 2 years' experience in a management position

  • Skills, confidence and experience in managing all aspects of a nursery setting

  • Experience and sound knowledge of SEND and being a SENCO Lead

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Be committed to further developing knowledge to remain up to date with CPD

  • Ensuring all Ofsted and local Authority requirements are met.

  • Monitoring and implementing high quality provision in accordance with the EYFS.

  • Provide a welcoming, positive environment to all parents, families, children and staff.
