Full Job Description

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • To work with the Deputy Manager to ensure that all children receive the highest possible standard of care and professional practice within the nursery.


  • To oversee and ensure that all office procedures that effect the smooth running of the provision are managed effectively.


  • To promote and maintain the good name of the Nursery through word of mouth, the media, open days and additional events.


  • To maintain and exceed the welfare requirements set out in the statutory guidance.


  • Health and safety checklists completed daily and monthly.


  • To ensure safer recruitment processes are followed.


  • To be the named Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the nursery.

  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with children.


  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations relating to education and care of young children and ensure this is updated.


  • Have experience with the Ofsted inspection process and have a tracked record of this.


  • Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently.


  • Experience of managing, supervision and appraisal of staff.


  • Ability to develop an effective team.


  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.


  • Commitment to equal opportunities for all children and families.


  • Safer Recruitment training.


  • Advanced Safeguarding.


  • Paediatric First Aid. (Desirable)


  • Enhanced DBS


  • Level 3 Food Hygiene (Desirable)


  • IOSH managing safety (Desirable)


  • Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification (Desirable)


  • 2 years experience working within Early Years


  • Level 5 Early Years Qualification (Desirable)
