Groundworker - Birmingham

This is a permanent staff position within our rapidly growing and progressive Charge team. The role involves setting out, trenching, and executing key groundwork tasks, contributing to the successful completion of EV charging infrastructure construction projects.

(Please note: due to the required locations we can only accept applications from candidates for this role that are based in or around the Birmingham area).

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Site Preparation:

• Use technical drawings to accurately set out and measure construction sites.


• Identify trenching locations in accordance with project requirements.


• Execute groundwork tasks with precision and attention to detail.


Health and Safety Compliance:

• Understand and implement Risk Assessments (RA) and Method Statements in daily tasks.


• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and ensure compliance with RAMS.


• Operate in accordance with industry best practices and regulations.


Equipment Operation:

• Safely operate heavy machinery and equipment to perform various tasks.


• Proficient in the use of abrasive wheels for cutting and shaping materials.


Mobility and Flexibility:

• Be willing and able to work away from home, covering projects across the UK.
  
  Proven experience as a skilled labourer in construction (min 2 years).


• Track record of successfully contributing to groundwork tasks on construction sites.


• Petrol forecourt or EV infrastructure experience is a BIG plus!


• Street Works experience is a plus


Technical Skills:

• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings.


• Competent in setting out and executing measurements accurately.


• Demonstrate a solid understanding of construction processes and techniques.


• Cat and Genny experience is a plus


Certifications:

• Hold valid licenses for operating excavators, dumpers, and rollers.


• CSCS card.


• Additional / non essential for consideration: Confined Space, Working at Height and Asbestos Awareness


• Hold a valid UK driving license


Safety Conscious:

• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.


• Familiarity with industry safety standards and practices.
