Full Job Description

Are you detail-oriented with a knack for managing research grants and financial procedures? Join our team as a Temporary Grants and Finance Administrator , where you'll play a crucial role in supporting the entire lifecycle of funding applications and awards.,

  • Pre-Award Activities: Assist the Research Facilitator in preparing accurate costings for grant applications, ensuring compliance with the University's costing tool and sponsor rules.

  • Expenditure Monitoring: Monitor expenditure against budgets to ensure compliance with the funder's terms and conditions.

  • Financial Reporting: Support the Grants Portfolio Officer by providing regular and accurate financial reports to principal investigators and other stakeholders.

  • Process Improvement: Conduct regular reviews of research grants management processes and procedures to enhance efficiency.

  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audit enquiries on research grant-related matters, collating and providing supporting documentation as required.

  • Project Setup: Accurately set up new projects, including task allocations, and complete award costings in the University's financial system.

  • Collaboration Coordination: Coordinate with Research Services to ensure collaboration agreements are finalized and collaborators' budgets are correctly accounted for.

  • Communication: Notify principal investigators of project setup in the financial system, providing project details and key conditions associated with the award.

    Experience of preparing financial reports, grants reporting, implementing financial controls and audit procedures.

  • Experience of working with Microsoft Excel and using this software to create high quality reports.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • The ability to take a diplomatic approach to problem-resolution

  • Advanced numeracy skills coupled with a demonstrated ability in financial management and analysis

  • Confident and proficient IT user, including Excel and other MS Office applications.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, to delegate and escalate effectively, and to meet strict deadlines.

  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
