Comex 2000 is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Civils Operative (Grab Driver).

The yard is in BRENTWOOD, we also have weekend and night work available for the role

We are looking for Civils Operative (Grab Driver) who will help our will be required to perform excavations, repairs and re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers and street cabinets and the installation of draw rope on telecoms infrastructure located within the public highway and customers premises using up to date client standard operating procedures and in full compliance to current legislation, health and safety requirements and company policies

What will you be doing?

As a Civils Operative (Grab Driver , your core responsibilities will be -

  • Liaise with all the teams to ensure we prioritise the allocated works as per instruction to ensure no penalties are incurred a business from the LA.

  • Ensure all SLG set up meets the Streetworks requirements and all sites are compliant 100% of the time.

  • Ensure all works areas are left safe and clean before leaving, escalate any issues.

  • Complete the required paperwork for your daily work tasks (job sheets / risk assessments / plant sheets / van sheets).

  • Use the technology provided to complete tasks issued.

  • Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities.

  • To be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.

  • To treat internal and external customers with respect and always provide support.

  • Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures.

  • Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry.

  • Be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.

  • Complete all project related works on time and meet client committed dates for delivery of the works.

  • Be prepared to carry out works on other workstreams when required and instructed by the business.

    Must have: HAIB Ticket & HGV Class 2 driving licence

  • Able to prove confident skills in the area of street works and have industry recognised qualification to the following standard:


  • o NRSWA.

    o CSCS Card

    o C+E Licence
  • Driver CPC Card, Lorry Mounted Crane Certification & Clamshell Bucket Ticket

  • Telecoms Industry Experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to work within a team

  • Be able to prioritise, organise and manage tasks
