Full Job Description

As a Digital Marketing Apprentice, you will help planning, developing, creating and evaluating content for Liverpool Biennial. Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Contributing new and creative ideas including for our current projects and events, LB2025 and our online shop

  • Supporting the Digital Content and Marketing Officer with researching, planning and developing content ideas

  • Supporting Liverpool Biennial's digital marketing strategy including working on social media, website, blog, SEO improvements and more

  • Driving traffic to LB web pages

  • Developing engaging online content including videos, graphics, and written copy

  • Uploading and editing content on LB website

  • Measuring and reporting performance of content and digital marketing campaigns, assessing against goals, using relevant sites such as Google Analytics

  • Keeping abreast of new social media sites, technologies, and digital marketing trends and insights; implementing these new technologies and insights in developing campaigns, Marketing and Content:

  • Support the Marketing and Communications team with the creation and implementation of major marketing and fundraising campaigns (in both the UK and key international markets)

  • Support on the delivery of high-performing, audience-focused content for Liverpool Biennial 2025 and our year-round programme of projects, exhibitions, and events where appropriate

  • Work closely with the Digital Content and Marketing Officer to drive engagement across digital platforms, supporting on ideas for content creation for all Liverpool Biennial owned social media channels

  • Write, source, and edit effective marketing copy for various platforms and audiences and contribute to the research and production of highly engaging written and visual content for the website, social media, monthly newsletter and other online projects

  • Support on devising campaign angles and strategies, overseen by the Marketing and Communications Manager

  • Support on the management of Google Ads

  • Support on the drafting of content for our printed festival guide


  • Research and analysis:
  • Support the Digital Content and Marketing Officer on reviewing campaign outputs and collating and circulating updates

  • Support the effective roll-out of audience research and evaluation projects, including survey set-up and distribution

  • Support on keyword research and improvements to our website SEO


  • Other duties:
  • Help to maintain day to day relationships with Biennial departments to ensure effective internal communications and optimal collaborative working and content sharing

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the marketing team, including but not limited to the sourcing and distribution of images and monitoring shared inboxes

  • Provide copyediting and proofreading support where needed

  • Occasional support on the planning and implementation of events in key cities (Liverpool, London, etc.)

  • Work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary, particularly during the festival period (7 June 2025 - 14 September 2025) taking this as Time Off in Lieu (to be agreed in advance with the Marketing and Communications Manager).

  • Any other duties which may be from time to time allocated, in line with the nature and responsibility level of the post.

  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Excell, Word, Outlook) and some knowledge of content management systems, (e.g., WordPress, Later and Google Analytics).

  • A-C (4-9) English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent

    Every two years the Liverpool Biennial festival brings together international artists, arts professionals, communities and audiences to experience exhibitions across the city, alongside a hybrid programme of talks, performances and events. Since being formed in 1998 we have commissioned 392 new artworks, presented work by over 560 leading artists, delivered 34 collaborative neighbourhood projects, and received over 50 million visits.

They train up to 80 apprentices a year, whilst the apprentices work with businesses around the North West (and sometimes further afield!). The training is delivered by industry professionals from their sister company, Tangerine Communications. The Juice Academy training sessions are a hybrid of face-to-face learning within the academy in Castlefield, and online delivery via Zoom. Apprentices will also receive the on the job training in the workplace. The final three months of the course will be the 'assessment period' during which apprentices are expected to produce a portfolio of work and complete a series of assessments. Full digital marketing training to be provided on-the-job and off-the-job. The Juice Academy partner with Apprentify, who support apprentices in the workplace through development coaching., Digital Marketing is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK, so prospects upon completion are very promising with industry experience and a qualification under your belt. Job titles include, but are not limited to

    Holidays - Holiday entitlement is 25 days between 1 April - 31 March each year. For this employment this will be July 2024 to March 2025 19 days and April 2025- September 2025 being 12.5 days. Additionally, the office is closed between Christmas and New Year

    Travel costs (train 2nd class) from Liverpool to Manchester for training days at The Juice Academy will be reimbursed for two days each month upon receipts of tickets.,
  • Please note: For the first year, you will be paid a minimum salary of £14,000 - £18,000 depending on age (18-25-year-old £14,000. Over 25-year-old £18,000). Thereafter, your pay will be increased to the National Living Wage regardless of age. All salaries are set at the employers' discretion; however, this will be the minimum you will receive.
