Full Job Description

This is an exciting time to join Bridgend CBC as we continue to remodel the way we meet the needs of children who need our support in line with the Welsh Government agenda to end profit in children's residential services in Wales.
Hillsboro House provides care and support for one child/young person between the ages of 8-25yrs who due to their complex needs cannot be placed alongside others.
Hillsboro House will be used as a short-term bridging placement towards a more suitable and stable long-term placement for a young person. The service is intended to have the ability to become 'dormant' and to become active at short notice if an appropriate child or young person is referred with changes in the service status being communicated to CIW. This means that the service will be more reactive and can also avoid the alternative option of an Out of County placement.
Hillsboro House seeks to offer opportunity for pause and to understand need better in order to assist in a transition for the child or young person into services that are best suited to promote positive change and development.
The service will focus on providing a therapeutic environment to stabilise the child's / young person's challenging behaviour, work on improving any risk-taking behaviours, re-connect to education, training or employment where necessary and support the identification of suitable long-term move on placements.
As a children's residential worker you will need to be willing to complete the All Wales Induction Framework as part of your induction, followed by the level 3 QCF in children and young people as listed in the Qualification framework for the Social Care Sector in Wales. You will also need to be registered with Social Care Wales on successful completion of your induction.
Do you feel that you want to be at the centre of the on-going development of this innovative approach to care? Are you able to work on a flexible basis? Can you work to the highest of standards, ensuring that the home remains compliant with Regulatory Requirements and supports children and young people to achieve the best possible outcomes? If so, we would love to hear from you!
Sleeping In, Weekend Working and Standby Duties are requirements for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
