Full Job Description

  • Managing the preparation of food

  • Coming up with some ideas including specials and new menu ideas

  • Being across some due diligence

  • Food preparation activities, such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling food ingredients

  • Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on company and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards

  • Washing, disinfecting and properly storing cooking and kitchen utensils and equipment

  • Buying, weighing and storing ingredients and food supplies

  • Managing inventory, unloading supplies and organising the storeroom

  • Cleaning the entire kitchen once it is closed to ensure it is ready for the next day

  • Maintaining the food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators

  • Receiving deliveries and organising them in the kitchen

  • Removing kitchen waste from waste containers and disposing of them properly

    Previous experience in a kitchen preferential.

    We have a full time job opportunity available in The Fat Cat Brewery Tap's Kitchen, 'Motherchip'.


  • Motherchip creates Street Food inspired dishes on a rotating, seasonal menu. Handmade and curated dishes inspired by incredible flavours from all corners of the globe.

    We need chefs to help create existing recipes and develop some new dish ideas too.

    Motherchip runs 5 days a week Wednesday to Sunday with a deep cleaning day on a Tuesday. The shifts include preptime and serving hours. Serving hours are weekdays is 4pm till 9pm. Saturday 12-9pm and Sunday 12-7pm. Time may vary sightly around public holidays and pub events.

    We consider a Full Time chef position to work between 35 - 40 hours per week.

    Motherchip is looking to expand in the coming months and years. We are currently in the process of re-branding Motherchip and we want chefs who would like to be a part of this journey as well as its expansion in the future.
