Full Job Description

The successful applicant will support the Financial services Manager management of the Accounts Payable function to ensure an efficient and effective provision of the function for the Trust and its subsidiary companies.

As a valued member of the team the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Ensure timely creditor payments.

  • Production of BPP statistics and working with the team and Procurement to ensure payment within 30 days is met

  • Joint working the Procurement Department, other services departments along with suppliers to resolve invoice and hold queries to enable timely payment

  • Review and authorisation of Creditor Payments BACS runs including international payments

  • Responsible for the correct identification of Contracted Out Services reclaimable VAT on a daily basis and liaising with the Accountancy Manager and Trusts VAT advisors as required

  • Assist with Agreements of creditor balances on a quarterly basis

  • Ensure that supplier statements are reconciled on a regular basis for all organisations.

  • Develop and implement new systems to improve ways of working

  • Assist with internal and external auditors and implementing any recommendations in a timely manner.

  • Provide assistance in the completion of accounts payable month end reporting

  • Production of KPIs

  • Management and development of the Accounts Payable team in line with Trust policies and procedures

  • You will form part of our friendly Accounts Payable Team based at South Tyneside District Hospital. They will be pivotal in contributing to the effectiveness and performance of the team and should possess spreadsheet skills and a keen eye for detail with ability to present information in a logical and meaningful manner. Oracle and VAT experience would be beneficial.

    The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels as well as good organisational skills and a real commitment to providing an excellent service delivery. Working to tight deadlines and prioritising workloads are key with the ability to working on their own initiative as well as under supervision.

    We are a driven and motivated team passionate about the development of our finance team. We have professional accreditation with ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA and AAT as well as holding level 1 Future Focused Finance accreditation and offer support for further training and professional development.

    The position will be office based with potential for some working from home and offers the benefits of flexible working.
