Transport Manager

The principal role of the Transport Manager is to ensure that the business operates within the law and fulfils its duties under the regulations set by governing bodies

· Operators Licences. The Transport Manager is responsible for the operators' licence for all the company locations including new applications, renewals, amendments and vehicle/trailer changes. The Transport Manager must ensure our compliance for any audits or visits from enforcement agencies.

· Driver Tachograph analysis. The Transport Manager is responsible for all tachograph analysis. This includes;

o Weekly driver card downloads obtained from each depot.

o 6 weekly vehicle tachograph downloads in-line with vehicle inspections.

o Analysis of all tachograph records to ensure compliance with legislation, law and working time directive rules.

· Vehicle Inspections, MOT and Taxation. The Transport Manager must ensure that a record is kept and reported to all depots detailing the inspections, service, MOT and taxation.

• Ensure that all vehicles are covered for inspection/service contracts and/or repair and maintenance contracts.


• Maintain vehicle register including;


• Registration Mark, vehicle details and VIN numbers.


• MOT dates.


• Taxation renewal dates.


• Ensure all depots have maintenance plans in place and on display.


· Fleet Additions and Specification. Monitoring and recommendations for specification of vehicles to remain within legislations and customer requirements (where applicable) for current and future fleet.

· Depot Audits. The Transport Manager must carry out monthly depot audits to check compliance with company procedures/policy and legislation requirements.

o Inspection schedules are up to date.

o Tachograph downloads are complete.

o Vehicle stock takes are complete.

o Vehicle condition and livery.

· Provide Health & Safety Leadership. The Transport Manager must support the HSEQ Director in all maters pertinent to the Health, Safety and Welfare of all employees whilst at work. This includes ensuring the issue and correct use of PPE.

· Assisting with general day to day office duties. Including hire desk/transport desk cover and answering incoming telephone calls.
