Full Job Description

The Service Manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of a range of recovery services across Middlesbrough, in line with the contractually agreed performance indicators.

The Service Manager will create an outcome focussed recovery and rehabilitation culture, providing effective leadership to all Recovery Connections staff, volunteers and people accessing our service.

The Service Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the Recovery element as part of the ACT Partnership.

On Call management rota out of hours.

As part of the Rehabilitation development and delivery the post holder will need a good understanding of the 12 step philosophy, SMART Recovery and other pathways to recovery inline with different models of recovery including CHIME and Recovery Capital.

To develop excellent partnership working arrangements with all community and criminal justice agencies and providers of specialist and non-specialist services in Middlesbrough.

The post will oversee the running of a rehab and a community support offer and must ensure Health & Safety compliance and a safe living/working environment at all times.

The post will support with the mobilisation and implementation of new and upcoming services.,

  • Lead on the development and delivery of the RECOVERY CONNECTIONS component of the ACT Partnership contract ensuring compliance with the Service Level Agreement and key performance indicators.

  • Represent RECOVERY CONNECTIONS on strategic groups related to the ACT partnership,

  • Generate accurate reports for the ACT partnership, Board of Trustees and external grant giving organisations.

  • Input into internal reviews of strategic plans, policy and procedures and any other corporate planning.

  • Attendance at the meetings of the Board of Trustees.

  • Manage and co-ordinate the operational delivery by all therapeutic staff to ensure that the service runs efficiently and effectively, making the best possible use of resources.

  • Provide line management direction, support and leadership to key individuals.

  • Work with colleagues to oversee the implementation of a Workforce Development and Training Plan to ensure staff have appropriate skills to deliver the agreed outcomes, to the required standards.

  • To act as an Ambassador for the service.

  • Maintain excellent communication with all key contacts. Ensure that constructive, positive and supportive relationships are maintained at the appropriate level with partner agencies.

  • Complete administrative tasks to ensure that all admin and clinical data requirements are met.

  • Work with the Senior Management Team to ensure effective performance management arrangements are in place through data collection, reporting and analysis, and to lead regular performance management meetings and ensure there is a robust performance framework for staff that is monitored through monthly supervision / appraisals

  • Work closely with Mental Health services and all other specialist agencies to establish and improve effective pathways to specialist interventions for people who access our services including mental health assessment and treatment, and domestic violence perpetrator or victim support services.

  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the service offered to people we support, to actively engage, involve and consult with people regarding on-going service development.

  • Oversee the creation and development of a recovery/rehabilitation/harm reduction focused community within RECOVERY CONNECTIONS and in Middlesbrough.

  • Ensure that the service is promoted and publicised within both Community and Criminal Justice environments to increase referrals and offender's access to support.

  • Ensure the safety of all staff and people accessing services by implementing risk assessment procedures and monitoring the maintenance of health, safety and security procedures in the working environment.

  • Ensure that all staff members understand and abide by relevant legislation, statutory policy and RECOVERY CONNECTIONS policies and procedures.

  • Participate in and make use of supervision and appraisal in line with RECOVERY CONNECTIONS policies.

  • Where there are identified shortcomings in team and individual performance, to take a proactive stance in addressing this with the support of the Regional Service Manager.

  • Manage the day to day running of all operations, ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, oversee routine inspections and follow up all maintenance needs.

  • To work flexibly, evening and weekend working as required and On Call Manager rota

    Experience

    Previous work within the addiction/recovery field

    Experience of development and delivery of training programmes

    Providing support and coordination of volunteers

    Working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies

    Able to perform in a demanding specialism

    Qualifications

    NQF level 5 (and above) qualification in a relevant field

    NQF level 3 or above in leadership and/or management

    Desirable: PTTLS, CTTLS, DTTLS, TAQA or similar adult teaching qualification
