Full Job Description

The BBC in the East Midlands produces the region's most watched evening news programmes. Our viewers come to us for an unrivalled service of local daily news and analysis of events. The team also works to produce material across all platforms including the BBC News Website and Social Media as well as Local Radio., We're looking for an Senior Journalist Presenter (Weekend Presenter) who has a proven track record in handling a wide news agenda with confidence. You'll be expected to present and produce the Weekend bulletins on Saturday and Sunday and the Late Bulletin on Friday and also work as a reporter one day a week. You will lead the weekend team and would have experience in dealing with breaking news. You would be deploying, putting the programme running order together as well as planning, filming and reporting on stories. In addition, you need experience of presenting a longer form programme as part of your role would be standing in for the 1830 presenter if required., We don't focus simply on what we do - we also care how we do it. In addition, experience of planning and filming your own stories, ideally on a MoJo kit would be required. All our journalists are working across all platforms and we would want the successful candidate to be have strong writing for online skills, be able to take quality stills for digital stories and be up to date with the latest trends in Social Media content.,

  • Extensive experience of presenting a live news programme

  • Proven Editorial judgement

  • Ability to provide content and write stories for Digital

  • An understanding of the different requirements of Digital platforms

  • Experience of Lone working

  • The ability to select stories and arrange them and deploy reporters and camera crews

  • Ability to handle a wide news agenda with good editorial judgement and legal knowledge

  • Be able to shoot and edit packages

    Salary: Upto 47k depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
