Quantity Surveyor

An exciting, full-time position has arisen for a specialist groundworks and civils contractor based in the Essex region. This opportunity is for a permanent Quantity Surveyor to work on prominent and exciting projects based in Essex.

Quantity Surveyor Duties:
- Communicate with Project Manager and Customers.
- Measure, estimate, negotiate, and settle on costs and budgets for changes to the project's scope.
- Overseeing the business and contractual facets of connections with customers, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Verify the project expenses are accurate, and where needed, raise, or address any questions.
- Participate in pre-contract meetings, communicate with a variety of construction industry experts, and make sure that all agreed-upon tasks are completed on time.
- Create and keep current purchase schedules.
- Examine quotes from subcontractors and offer suggestions for order placement.
- Visit the project location to value and measure the job.
- Determine the right to payment for subcontractors and handle payments.
- Reconcile the value and cost as of now and as projected to update the management team on the status of the project.
- Assist in the seamless operation of the site by collaborating closely with contract and site management personnel and doing additional tasks as needed.
- Support the mentoring and professional growth of junior Quantity Surveyors.

Relevant Qualification (e.g.HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent
- A background of working in a commercial role for a civil engineering contractor
- Knowledge of contracts/ contractual terms
- Work well individually and as a part of a team.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word
- Strong numerical skills
