Full Job Description

  • Liaise with engineering understanding the requirements of their requests, producing designs from a concept stage up to final detail designs suitable for manufacture and implementation on site.

  • Producing full 3D models of designs, 2D CAD (to BS8888) generated items or manual techniques to support Plant, Tool or product Gauging requirements onsite.

  • Carrying out technical analysis and investigations and providing design recommendations to support the resolution of problems within a variety of manufacturing processes.

  • Liaising with Design authorities, Technical authorities, Product managers, Civil engineers, SHE department and Suppliers for safe and timely deployment of designs into relevant working areas.

  • Specifying/defining appropriate materials, tolerance, finishes, strengths, weights of components along with consideration of ATEX working environmental requirements.

    CAD Software Experience (NX2027 or similar) and PLM software ( Teamcenter or similar)

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design/HND/HNC

  • Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing


  • Desirable:
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of BMS procedures

  • Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards, and standard instructions (i.e., Business Management System (BMS) and Life Cycle Model (LCM)).

  • Experience in a production environment, ability to perform structural/stress analysis to inform and reinforce design choices

  • Previous experience of working in a Plant/Manufacturing design capability

  • The Design team:

    You will be joining a driven and multidiscipline team, providing design solutions to all elements of manufacturing across our Glascoed site. From bespoke plant and tool solutions for our munitions product manufacture to producing gauging schemes to support safety and quality onsite.
