Full Job Description

We ask you to commit the equivalent of a day a month. Each trustee is required to attend four board meetings a year, requiring preparation and reading time. In addition, a trustee will join a sub-committee who meet four times a year. There may also be opportunities to be involved in working groups on specific topics, training sessions or events and activities promoting the charity. The charity's board meetings are held in Manchester during the day, however, we can offer the facility to attend meetings virtually when required. Sub-committee meetings are held virtually and in the evening. The Board will look to offer flexibility and accommodate personal availability wherever possible. Reasonable expenses incurred to facilitate attendance at meetings will be reimbursed.

This is an ideal opportunity for a pharmacist wanting to support our 'pharmacy family' alongside developing their personal and/or professional skills in a team of experienced and dedicated trustees, volunteers, and staff. We are particularly interested in hearing from pharmacists who have recent community pharmacy experience or have previous experience of the charity's services., Our aim is to create a Board of Trustees that is representative and supportive of our 'pharmacy family' and we would welcome interest from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and levels of experience. If you have passion for the people we serve, and experience you feel could benefit our dynamic and innovative charity, we would like to hear from you. Your 'lived' experience is more important than previous trustee experience as full training will be given.

Our beneficiaries making up our 'pharmacy family' include pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists, pharmacy students, and trainees, for whom we provide a range of services to help and support them in times of need.

At Pharmacist Support, people are at the heart of everything we do, and this is embedded within our vision, mission, and values. We champion the wellbeing of our 'pharmacy family'; we don't want any of our beneficiaries to face challenging times without us by their side. Each year we provide thousands of acts of support - we make good things happen. Our connection to the profession is deep. Established by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) in 1841, the organisation has grown from its Benevolent Fund roots into an independent modern-day charity. We have listened carefully to people from all sectors of the profession, and deeply understand and empathise with the issues affecting pharmacy today.

Over the past five years, we have significantly increased our reach and impact as well as raising the charity's profile and the important topic of mental health and wellbeing.

As we embark on the development of a new five-year strategy, we are now looking to add two new pharmacist trustees to our board who can further support us in our growth, and development.
