Full Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Materials Controller to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Material Requisition process, overseeing the Physical Receipt of Goods, conducting inspections, managing storage, and ensuring the timely Preparation and Delivery of materials against Works Orders.
Working in Stourbridge, West Midlands, the hours of work are 7am-4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am-11am Friday with overtime opportunities available.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify material requirements and initiate Works Orders for Production or Purchase Orders for materials.

  • Verify the quality and quantity of goods upon receipt.

  • Properly store goods in designated areas and complete necessary paperwork for processing.

  • Kit Works Orders efficiently to facilitate production.

  • Monitor and address any delays in kitting operations, coordinating with the Operations Manager to adjust delivery schedules. Supporting Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular stock checks to maintain accuracy.

  • Provide feedback on supplier and internal production issues to relevant managers for review.

  • Identify and rectify Bill of Material errors, collaborating with the Technical Department as needed.

  • Review and confirm drawings and routings, correcting any errors or omissions before production begins.

  • Communicate priorities to Operations Manager and Manufacturing Manager as needed.


  • Basic Responsibilities:
  • Ensure adherence to the Company's Health & Safety policy.

  • Demonstrate effective workload planning and prioritization to meet deadlines.

  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.

  • Actively participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.

    Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualifications or experience.

  • Essential: Previous experience working in a picking, warehousing, or materials controller environment. Desirable: Previous experience as a Materials Controller

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
