Full Job Description

  • Understanding user needs: You'll collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for platforms and infrastructure that support data science projects and hackathons.

  • Building shared environments: Develop secure and efficient shared software environments (e.g., Docker containers) to facilitate collaboration.

  • Platform implementation: Lead the creation of trial platform implementations across various platforms, including cloud environments (AWS & Azure) and private Linux clusters.

  • Testing and support: Actively participate in platform testing by supporting trial projects and events.

  • Security focus: Implement appropriate security measures to protect valuable data and other assets.

    Our Client (a world leader in environmental science) is seeking a skilled contractor to develop innovative platforms and infrastructure. These platforms will support research, development, and learning initiatives in data science, machine learning, and EO.,
  • Solid infrastructure development skills: Experience in provisioning and setting up robust and reusable compute platforms, preferably using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes.

  • System integration expertise: A strong understanding of system integration processes and the challenges associated with designing, building, and testing system interfaces.

  • Technical know-how: Demonstrated awareness of relevant subject matter and a high-level understanding of data science, machine learning, and EO.

  • Design thinking: The ability to translate business problems into effective technical designs.

  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Security awareness: A strong understanding of information security principles and the ability to implement appropriate security controls.

  • Problem-solving prowess: The ability to investigate and resolve problems within systems, processes, and services.


  • Bonus points for:
  • Experience with Transatlantic Data Science Alliance (TDSA) or Earth Observation Information Partnership (EOIP) projects.

  • Knowledge of setting up time-bound projects and hackathons with a focus on learning and development.

  • Experience developing lessons learned from projects to inform long-term planning.
