Full Job Description

  • Working with MD and management team on business and people strategy

  • Working with MD and management team to deliver on strategic plans

  • Working with MD on succession planning


  • HR roles
  • Providing HR support to the business at all levels and provide HR updates

  • Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures in respect of key workplace issues, e.g., absence management, performance management, mental health and wellbeing, grievance, appraisals. Including organising inductions and inducting new team members on key policies incl in person on discrimination capability and disciplinary and any other key policies.

  • Ensuring HR policies and procedures are kept up to date and comply with current employment law. Including a review and update of all current policies

  • Ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees.

  • Coaching and advising senior managers on any people issues.

  • Management of any diversity and inclusion programs.


  • Talent Management roles - Recruiting, retaining (or not), training, and developing staff
  • Recruitment in conjunction with relevant stakeholders - MD/Team leaders/Fee earners

  • Working with the MD had teams to further develop our L&D program (the Walker Academy) to address employee training needs. To include organising training across the firm.

  • Ensuring effective learning and development support is available to support solicitors and other regulated individuals meet their continuing professional development requirements.

  • Oversight of Trainees

  • Oversight of appraisals

  • Working with MD on talent firm management reviews and the succession planning process.

  • Oversight of wellbeing initiatives

  • With MD and management team developing EVP

  • Working with the MD and management team on the strategy for compensation and benefits packages and Employee Value Proposition.

  • Review and streamline recruitment processes - which be different for fee earners and

  • Measuring and monitoring employee satisfaction and identifying areas that need addressing. management and employee relations activities in conjunction with Business Development Manager

    Relevant law firm experience - ideally in a legal 500 practice

  • CIPD or equivalent qualification.

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Team player with good sense of humour

  • Strong interpersonal skills and intellectual capacity and sound judgement.
