Full Job Description

As Head of RPA you will strategically lead our efforts in harnessing automation to streamline workflows and drive innovation across our organisation. Whilst being responsible for 6 dedicated team members, you will manage the full Lifecycle Management of RPA solutions from initiation / concept to handover to the Business, including aftercare. You will work closely with Director of Business Efficiency to shape RPA roadmap and prioritise Automations for the next 3-5 year+, with an aspiration to grow our number of automations to >200 and >10m transactions per month., RPA:

  • Lead role in the implementation of New Products / Projects over the next 2-3 years, including New Automation Software, Document Understanding & Automation Hub

  • Identify Group-wide automation opportunities, build next year's RPA Roadmap & seek approval from RPA Sponsor

  • Design / set up best practices / processes for RPA CoE's Lifecycle

  • Lead full lifecycle management of RPA solutions from Scouting to Implementation & Maintenance

  • Lead RPA CoE ensuring Automation targets are delivered at the best possible quality

  • Recruit, manage and help with the personal development of RPA's Developers & Analyst

  • Ensure RPA CoE is compliant with CAG's best practises (i.e. Product Releases, Request for Changes, Deployments, Infrastructure design etc.)

  • Work in collaboration with all relevant Cross-functional Teams including: Engineering, Architecture, ITOC, InfoSec, Test, Application, BE, Operations etc. in order to build and maintain a robust Product that can scale up quickly / efficiently at the lowest possible cost

  • Along with Engineering & Architecture Teams, design and implement robust Infrastructure model & Disaster Recovery Plans

  • Ensure Automations are functional 24/7 by implementing countermeasures and best practises (along with cross-functional teams such as Engineering & I.T. Operations Centre)

  • Design communication plan & establish channels between End Users & RPA CoE to enable Business raise RFCs and communicate questions/clarifications needed

  • Ensure all risks and issues are logged, communicated with stakeholders and managed through to resolution


  • People Management:
  • Set Annual & Interim Objectives & Personal Development Plans (PDPs)

  • Complete Annual & Interim Reviews in-line with agreed Objectives & PDPs

  • Identify tailored training opportunities for individuals within RPA CoE

  • Build a 'Continuous Improvement' culture within the RPA CoE

  • Promote an ongoing development of an 'RPA / Automation' community enabled to share automation ideas and engage with further Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)


  • Product, Partners & Budget Management:
  • Ensure RPA Products are always up to date with the latest releases and features

  • Keep up to date with the latest products in RPA / AI Industry and introduce new tools for the enhancement of RPA CoE's capabilities (i.e. Orchestrator, Automation Hub, Task Capture, Document Understanding etc.)

  • Build and maintain strong relationship with CAG's RPA Platform Partner (UiPath), negotiate new license contracts as well as renewals

  • Build and maintain strong relationship with CAG's RPA Partners to enable CAG (if needed) to quickly scale and speed up Roadmap delivery through outsourcing

  • Maintain cost control of Licensing Budget (Op. Ex.), achieve cost effective License set up / utilisation and ensure Cap. Ex. spend (if any) is managed below approved limit

    5+ years' experience in a high volume, fast paced Corporate environment

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in setting up & leading an RPA CoE

  • Extensive experience of leading, coaching, mentoring & motivating a RPA CoE (6+ direct reports), especially where Team is spread across different geographical locations

  • People Management experience

  • Client (internal & external) stakeholder Management experience

  • Experience of working in a large Transformation programme delivering Automation targets within expected timescale and budget

  • Programme Management

  • Tech Savvy with a deep knowledge in RPA Industry and UiPath Tools (i.e. Orchestrator, Automation Hub, Task Mining, Process Mining etc.)

    £65,000 - £75,000 + car allowance + benefits
