Full Job Description

Pay Details: Soulbury A 2-7 plus up to 3 SPA points £44,474 - £54,609 (+ up to 3 SPA points). Existing SPA points will be honoured as well as latest Soulbury pay rise. Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hrs per week (based on full time). Part time applicants will also be welcomed.

Main Place of Work: flexible working including civic offices and opportunities to work from home.

  • To promote equality of access and opportunity for all children, regardless of gender, attainment, ethnicity, ALN or competence in English and/or Welsh.

  • To promote the use of applied psychology to improve outcomes, inclusion and achievements of children and young people including pre-school and post-16 utilising the following methods:


  • Consultation with staff, parents and carers.
    Therapeutic interventions .
    Providing psychological advice as a contributor to the statutory process .
    Undertaking project work and training including whole school and local authority . Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of county provision and policies

  • To ensure the effective collection, analysis and communication of data in accordance with the service protocols.

  • To participate in the planning and overall development of the Educational Psychology Service and the wider education service.

  • To keep abreast of current practice and research in educational psychology, to maintain commitment to a programme of continuous professional development thus maintaining the standards of membership to the Health and Care Professions Council.

    A postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

  • Experience of working with children and young people with additional learning needs (ALN).

  • Knowledge of the psychological and educational needs of children and young people.

  • Knowledge and use of a wide range of psychological interventions for children with ALN.

  • The ability to manage the pressures of multiple targets and demands.

  • Ability to work as a team member and promote cohesion.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound balanced judgement, decisions and flexibility.

  • Ability to travel. We would welcome experienced applicants and will honour existing pay arrangements. We would also welcome those who are newly qualified or training.
