Full Job Description

We are now looking for a Data Lead to help generate, collect, store and join data from across the business in order to drive understanding and decision making. The role sits within the Tech team, where all the Data, Analysis and Research delivery sits for the organisation.

Oh Polly currently uses several 3rd party tools across the business in Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Brand, Marketing and Trading - we need someone who is responsible for leading on removing the silo's between these systems and bringing the data from these tools into our own Cloud-based data warehouse. This is an integral role within the Insights function as it is building the foundations of data collection and processing that will allow best-in-class Insight and Analytics delivery

The role would suit someone who is technical by nature, but also someone who understands the "so what" of what we're trying to achieve and the business questions we want to answer. The role will be focused on product/project management and requires someone to be a self-starter, able to manage multiple projects, generate and document processes and have strong stakeholder management.

The role would initially be focussed on Operations, Merchandising and Digital Trading - but someone with a well-rounded experience across a business would be the best fit,

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day data flows from 3rd party systems to our own data environment for use in reporting and analysis

  • Build out our own ETL processes and data warehouse architecture to best deliver on the reporting, analysis and insight needs of the business

  • Deliver ad-hoc data and reporting as needed

  • Driving best-practice process and project management for the Snowflake data warehouse

  • Integrating new 3rd party systems into Oh Polly from a data perspective and ensuring the data coming out of different tools is consistent and of high quality

  • Building from the ground up how to best utilise data across our Operations functions - move away from several different tools and manual inputs to a streamlined and consistent approach to helps to drive Operations performance

  • Work with the Tech team to ensure all data coming out of systems is of high quality and uses consistent definitions.

  • Be seen as the oracle on all things data at Oh Polly

  • Collect business requirements from across departments to build out Oh Polly future data strategy

  • Apply best practice data quality, data governance, project management strategies and techniques.

  • Proactively assist in problem solving within the team and across teams

You are technical by nature, with experience across a variety of programming languages (SQL, PHP, Python, for example)

  • Experienced in working with server and/or cloud SQL databases

  • Able to translate business needs into technical data requirements

  • Understand the "so what" of what data is used a business

  • Driven by best-practice and doing things the right way

  • Well organised with a systematic approach to work and close attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written & verbal

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and adapt to regular change

  • Enjoys a challenge, with a "can do" attitude

  • Bullish about Oh Polly and its global potential

  • Have 5+ year's experience working in a similar Technical Product / Data management role

  • An understanding of data processes and experience working with and/or developing ETL processes

  • Experience of manipulating/analysing data from large databases.

  • Strong technical and development skills

  • You have hands on experience as a Data Architect.

  • Project Management qualifications (e.g. Prince, Agile); ideal but not essential
